Crock Pot Time!!!

Hey Ya'll today we are gonna be cooking in the crock pot. I wanted to take you through my process of preparing my meals and how I just throw it together. I don't know how many of you use your crock pot but there is a great little invention that are called crock pot liners. They are WONDERFUL and make the clean up a breeze.

So something you may not know about me is I am very humm..... I would say frugal. I shop the sale papers and use coupons etc. So I usually base my meals on what I find on sale that week. So since it's only the two of us I buy the family packs then come in and separate them into smaller meals. Below you will see how I take a ziploc bag separate the meat, write ( with a marker ) on the outside the recipe so then if I am at work the hubby can go directly into the freezer throw it in the crock pot and head to bed. (He works nights)

Recipe for cube steak and gravy. I found this recipe on Pinterest.com I apologize but I couldn't find the original pin to give credit for the recipe.

4- Cube steak
1- Can cream of mushroom soup
1- pkg onion soup mix
3/4- water or broth
sliced mushrooms optional

Throw it all in the crock pot on Low all day. Add mushrooms in the last hour of cooking time. We serve ours over rice, mash potatoes or egg noodles. I personally didn't add any salt to it because the mushroom soup has enough salt for us.
It will melt in your mouth it is so tender!! I hope you Enjoy!!

  1. Your stroganoff looks tasty, Tiffany! I love to hear that folks are using their slow cookers. They are great for SO many reasons: easy to use; saves time, money, energy; you can take advantage of less tender cuts (actually they are preferable as they have much more natural flavour and don't need as much seasoning). When I worked I used to load the crock the night before, refrigerate til morning when I would set the cooker before leaving for work. Lucky you to have Hubby do that part!

I have bought and used half a dozen models since starting my family over 25 years ago, and I loved them all! Bottom line for me: food from the slow cooker just tastes better! I haven't done a roast in the big oven in years... it's reserved for polymer clay... just kidding LOL.

Tiffany, I don't know if you enjoy pork at your house. Here we prefer it and rarely eat beef. I line the bottom of my cooker with thickly sliced onions, put a shoulder or other inexpensive pork cut on top, sprinkle with grated fresh garlic and freshly cracked pepper, and maybe 1 to 1-1/2 cups of stock, then let it cook all day on low. Talk about falling off the bones! It's their favourite meal here. I'm sure beef would be great this way, too.

Like you, and many others, I want value for my money when it comes to food! Fortunately our local supermarket has many 30-50% markdowns in fresh departments. Anything I can freeze, I buy. Another wonderful thing about slow cooking is how easy it is to use meat straight from frozen; it just takes a couple more hours and every bit as delicious.

Thanks for the tip about the liners... when I make ribs there's always such a mess to clean.

Do you have any recipes for desserts in the slow cooker? That's something I haven't tried.

    1. You know that recipe sounds awesome and pretty close to how we do chicken fajitas. I will have to try to pork out its not much we don't eat ;) have you tried wrapping your potatoes in aluminum foil and putting them on top to cook?? So you pretty much have the whole meal completed.

About the desserts oh yes I have a few are you a chocolate or fruity dessert person??

  2. I haven't tried the liners yet but I will have to try them. I make a lot of soup in my crock pot and love it! Just made some stuffed pepper soup in it the other day and it was yummy! That cube steak recipe sounds delicious too.
